Open Window Practical Joke
During Sunday school class one day my teachers were doing a demonstration. They had a bunch of chocolate tarts with whip cream on top. While handing us each a tart they told us to try and eat it as fast as possible without choking. We were informed that the 2 winners would then face off to see who the champion of our class was. Although we had not been told they were planning to give us all the regular tarts at first but then when the winners faced off give them tuna tarts instead. Of course no one would be able to tell that they were tuna because of the whip cream on top. So we all prepared to bite into the delicious looking tarts. On our teachers cue we all started devouring the tarts. To the surprise of our teachers one of the girls took a big bite and stopped, eyes wide and confused. Slowly she chewed, swallowed, and placed the tart on the table. She later explained that the tart tasted like tuna and she didn’t know whether or not to spit it out or if everyone had tuna but were just eating them anyways. We came to the conclusion that the tarts must have been shaken around during the drive to church. Everyone had a big laugh and of course the second round never happened. This practical joke was tiny in comparison to what happened to what transpired between Vera and Mr.Nuttel but it was the only one I could remember at this time. I without a doubt believe that Vera’s joke on Mr.Nuttel was much crueler. My teachers’ joke was simply a fun demonstration to make class more interesting. On the contrary Vera was making a joke based on death and spirits and crazy aunts. I feel as though these topics are much too serious to be joking about. Almost anyone would agree that Vera’s joke worked better. Despite the fact that my teachers’ joke did work, well not exactly as they had planned but it worked, it was still almost microscopic in comparison to Vera’s. I believe Vera’s practical joke was a very bad idea. If she would have paid attention to Mr.Nuttel’s demeanor Vera would have realized that it was not a good idea to make him the victim of any practical joke, let alone that intense of one. I believe that it spoke volumes about Vera’s character. In conclusion I would like to point out that practical jokes can be fun for everyone involved but you need to be careful not to go to far as in Vera’s case.
